Farm orbs during the first 30 seconds. Avoid combat entirely until you reach at least tier 3. Fighting at tier 1 or 2 is a coin flip because everyone is roughly the same size, and a single death resets your progress. Orb farming is slower but guaranteed, and the head start compounds quickly.
